The Japanese broadcasting station TBS has posted a notice on its webpage for the TBS Anime Festa 2008 event that acknowledges that the Tonari no 801 chan anime series has been cancelled. TBS Anime Festa 2008 unveiled the project during the August 16-17 weekend, although early copies of the third volume of Ajiko Kojima's Tonari no 801 chan manga revealed the news already. The original manga centers on an fujoshi (female boys-love Otaku), her personal life, and her Otaku boyfriend. No reason was given for the anime cancellation, but TBS apologized to those who were anticipating the anime and asked for their understanding.
